Captain Marvel is ready to take over the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
During Monday Night Football, Marvel dropped the second trailer for the superhero sci-fi movie Captain Marvel, in which Captain Marvel aka Carol Danvers (Brie Larson) tries to figure out her own past while trying to stop a war.
In trailer #2, Danvers’ mission becomes clear. Teaming up with Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson, de-aged thanks to amazing special effects), she returns to Earth to stop an intergalactic war between the shapeshifting Skrulls and the alien Kree – the latter whom helped Danvers gain her incredible superpowers.
Carol’s mission on Earth brings up new, confusing memories. As people and abilities (like knowing how to ride an Air Force plane) keep coming back to her memory, she and S.H.I.E.L.D. look for solutions in taking down the Skrulls.
Captain Marvel’s powers are on full display, as she takes down ships with relative ease, all while wearing her awesomely designed — originally created in the comics by Jamie McKelvie — mohawk helmet. She’s a badass and then some.
One of the best, charming moments is when Fury gets up close with Goose (renamed from Chewie in the comics) and showers the alien-like cat with pets.
Captain Marvel is the MCU’s most powerful hero. This trailer is the perfect showcase to why she’s the perfect weapon against Thanos in the currently untitled Avengers 4 (whose own trailer is rumored to drop Wednesday).
Captain Marvel — directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck — is set to be released by Marvel Studios on March 8, 2019.
