The currently untitled Wolverine 3’s title might have been revealed.
X-MenFilms.com reports the final feature film featuring Wolverine will be titled Wolverine: Weapon X. The website reports Fox registered the domain name for the film. The news should be taken with a grain of salt, but it wouldn’t be surprising to see them go the Weapon X route given Wolverines origins with the facility that turned his bones into adamantium. Early rumors suggested the film would be based off the Old Man Logan comic storyline, so the new report throws water on that idea – although, they could still borrow elements for the upcoming film.
It appears the film will feature X-23, the female clone of Wolverine who eventually assumes the mantle. A casting call stated they’re looking to cast an “11-14-year-old girl” with “martial arts or gymnastic experience,” who’s “extremely physical” and “everything is new – every experience very image a first.” That sounds a lot like a description for X-23 – aka Laura Kinney. It would make sense to lay groundwork for a new Wolverine type character for the future of the X-Men franchise. Given the possible Weapon X connection, the setup would be natural.
There’s already speculation the role can be cast, as Twitter users are running rampant with speculation this little girl seen on set is playing the role. I’d bet on X-23 being in the film but take the fact she’s already been cast with an even bigger grain of salt.
