The fervor over Star Wars: The Force Awakens is starting to die down in America but that doesn’t mean the film is done breaking box office records. After surpassing the North American box office lead last week, it now has its sights set on world domination.

The film finally opened in China, taking in $52.6 million in one weekend, breaking the record for the biggest Saturday in the nation’s box office history ($33 million). While good, that number doesn’t bode too well for the film’s chances to overtake Avatar for the title of biggest global box office winner of all time.

Now officially-released in every market and currently at $1.733 billion, TFA is more likely to challenge Titanic ($2.18 billion) for second place than it is to catch Avatar ($2.78 billion).

Domestically, The Force Awakens pulled in another $41.6 million over the weekend to retain its spot atop the box office. It now tops out at $812 million, making it the first movie to ever surpass $800 million in domestic box office.

This may be the last weekend that Star Wars rules the box office, however. Leonardo DiCaprio’s The Revenant made a surprisingly-strong showing with an estimated $38 million, almost overtaking the blockbuster. Depending on how it holds up next weekend, it may end up becoming the answer to a trivia question.
