Star Wars Land

Star Wars Land won’t open until 2019, but Disney has given us our first glimpse of the themed areas in development at its California and Florida parks, unveiling a 50-foot, detailed, 3D model. And it looks absolutely awesome.

The following reveal video shows two attractions that will be part of the 14-acre area. One puts guests in the cockpit of the Millennium Falcon on a customized secret mission. The other is a battle ride between the First Order and the Resistance.

Star Wars’ world-building has always been my favorite part of the franchise, and it looks like Disney has nailed that aspect of the park to really transport you to a planet that’s reminiscent of Tatooine’s grittiness and Endor’s forest land. The whole experience takes place at a single outer rim spaceport, so if executed well it can really be an immersive adventure.

And what this model didn’t even show (aside from the three-hour long queue lines) were the full-scale AT-AT walkers that will reportedly be inside the First Order battle ride.

Here’s some more information on the newly revealed attractions, via ABC:

So guests will actually get to pilot the Millennium Falcon, which has been a fantasy at some point for every Star Wars fan.

It may be a tiny model, but I’m ready to jump into the cockpit right now. Judge me by my size, do you?
