Third Eye Blind

Third Eye Blind doesn’t give a damn.

The band, best known for the 90’s hits ‘Jumper’ and ‘How’s it Going to Be,’ appeared at a charity event at Cleveland’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Wednesday. The event was linked to the Republican National Convention and the band used their platform to speak out against the party’s beliefs.

According to the New York Daily News, lead singing Stephan Jenkins trolled the audience multiple times, including saying “raise your hand if you believe in science.” Jenkins also talked favorably about gay rights.

The band made little effort to please the audience, as they didn’t play any of their hits – except for ‘Jumper’ at the end of the concert, a song which is about the suicide of Jenkins’ gay friend. I assume Jenkins made this face while on stage. It was a ballsy thing to do in Trump territory.

The comments didn’t end after the concert was over. Third Eye Blind promptly responded to a concert-goer who told them she has never been more disappointed, disappointing her even more with their fantastic response.

Jenkins is no stranger to discussing his political beliefs, as he wrote a piece on the Huffington Post in 2012 on why the band declined an invitation to play at the RNC.

“The Republican party is on the wrong side of Lilly Ledbetter, fiscal responsibility, unions, civil rights, climate change, evolution, the Big Bang theory, stem cells, Medicare, and me, and that’s why we will let them be, in their government-funded event center, to sell their song and dance without me.”

Jenkins decided it was time to speak out on Wednesday and did so by trolling the bejeezus out of everyone in attendance at this show.

Something tells me they won’t be booked again at events near the next RNC, but hey, that’s how it’s going to be.
