South Park Trump

Like much of the nation, the folks at South Park were ready to spotlight a Hillary Clinton victory in Tuesday’s 2016 presidential election.

The animated comedy series was all ready with a Clinton-inspired episode called “The Very First Gentleman.” However, the folks writing the show were left scrambling after Donald Trump pulled off the upset.

Despite being ready for a Clinton victory, South Park was able to show an episode reacting to the election of Trump. While still referencing the Clintons, Wednesday’s episode of South Park was all about the Republican presidential-elect:

The episode was renamed as “Oh Jeez.” This episode was all about the Trump victory and the shocked reaction of those on the show. Some characters were even throwing up on the street and shooting themselves in the head.

And, as previously mentioned, South Park still had time to mention the Clintons, featuring Bill and Bill Cosby in a musical number about the celebrities’ history with sexual assault allegations.

South Park has always been known for its up-to-the-minute cultural references. Back in 2008, the show premiered an episode featuring Barack Obama’s victory speech the day after it happened. And while this is nice for fans, it causes a lot of last-minute work for the writers.

And while the show continued to be an extreme satire of this year’s election, it finished on a much more poignant note.

Overall, South Park seemed to have the same odds of nailing the results as the rest of the pollsters. For South Park, however, getting it wrong just means making some last-minute adjustments. For the pollsters, getting it wrong has resulted in plenty of ridicule.
