Pro wrestling and Hollywood have been synonymous with each other for a very long time. That trend has continued in 2022, with WWE stars Becky Lynch and Liv Morgan each landing roles on television series like ‘Young Rock’ and ‘Chucky.’  As we learned on Tuesday though, there is more than enough of all that to go around. AEW star Maxwell Jacob Friedman, affectionately known as MJF, is joining the cast of a notable upcoming movie about a pro wrestling tragedy.

MJF is joining The Iron Claw, a biopic about the Von Erich Family. Deadline Hollywood first reported the news on Tuesday morning about the AEW star’s major move in Hollywood:

“Professional wrestler Maxwell Jacob Friedman (MJF) is joining ‘The Iron Claw,’ the publication wrote in a tweet. “Friedman joins a stacked ensemble which also includes Jeremy Allen White, Zac Efron, Harris Dickinson, Holt McCallany, Maura Tierney, and Lily James, as previously announced,” wrote reporter Matt Grobar.

No major details were revealed yet for MJF’s role in the film.

The Iron Claw will be directed by Sean Durkin and produced by A24. The film dives into the tragic history of the Von Erich family. The family led the charge in the 1980s wrestling scene in the state of Texas. But they were marred by numerous tragic events and deaths in the family in the years that followed.
