Former professional wrestler and current WWE broadcaster Jerry Lawler received death threats over his support for Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump. Lawler told a local Memphis TV station threats on his life starting coming in after he tweeted in support of Trump in the New Hampshire primary.

Trump is no stranger to the WWE. The businessman-turned-politician is a friend of the McMahon family and is even a class of 2013 WWE Hall-of-Fame inductee even going as much as participating in WrestleMania 23 in a “Hair vs. Hair” match against Mr. McMahon. Despite that, it did not stop fellow WWE wrestler John Cena from publicly denouncing Trump’s anti-muslim rhetoric.

This is yet another example of some of the vitriol that can occur from the Twitterverse when a famous person, or even anyone in general, publicly shares their opinion on anything political, regardless of which political candidate Lawler supported.

Lawler told Memphis, Tennessee news station (WMC) that the tweet “was not the best idea,” and that he plans to stay out of politics in the future. Video is in the link below.
