Patrick Maroon releases incredibly dumb response to short-sighted comments

Patrick Maroon doubled down on statements questioning whether Connor McDavid should have been pulled by concussion spotters during Edmonton’s recent overtime loss against the Minnesota Wild.

In case you missed it, Maroon, like a baboon pounding his chest, referred to hockey as a “man’s game” in response to McDavid getting taken out of the game.

“This is a man’s game,” Patrick Maroon told Sportsnet Mark Spector, when asked about McDavid’s removal. “People are going to get hit, get high-sticked. They’re going to go through the middle and get hit. That’s part of hockey, and that’s why we have all this gear that protects us.

“Yes, if someone gets seriously hurt, we’re concerned. But he just fell, got tripped. I just don’t get it.

“It’s a man’s game.”

I’m pretty sure women play hockey too, but sure.

After getting widely criticized online, Maroon took to Twitter to clarify his statements. Instead of remedying the problem, he penned a nearly illegible comment claiming he wasn’t sexist. The two last paragraphs are hilarious as Maroon says “last time I checked I play hockey, not school” (WHAT?) and blamed the media for taking things out of context.

This “I am holier than you” routine is a load of BS. Concussion spotters had every right to take McDavid out of the game. Maroon can be pissed, but crying about it makes him look stupid. The note is embarrassing. There are a plethora of errors in it. He definitely didn’t “play school” as he put it.

Maroon needs to respect the league’s process and keep his mouth shut. He’s not winning anyone over with incredulous comments.
