Kyle Larson Brennan Poole

Kyle Larson was running up toward the front at Dover until a wreck collected him. Ross Chastain hit Brennan Poole and as Poole went toward the wall, flew into Larson’s path.

Alex Bowman is watching the race instead of participating. That’s because Bowman fractured his vertebra in a sprint car crash last week. Bowman saw what happened and was one of many who blamed Chastain for the crash.

Obviously, Bowman is going to be partial toward his Hendrick Motorsports teammate. Having said that, it doesn’t necessarily mean Bowman is wrong either.

Chastain told his crew over the radio that he didn’t mean to get into Poole, and maybe he’s telling the truth. Chastain crashing Poole looked similar to Denny Hamlin crashing JJ Yeley at Richmond. Hamlin took the blame but also didn’t mean to get into Yeley. Hamlin said that he simply didn’t anticipate Yeley braking much earlier than he expected.

That seemed to be the case with Chastain and Poole, given Poole was in a car that isn’t as good as most other teams. But given that Chastain has been the cause of multiple crashes over the years, his competitors are not giving him the benefit of the doubt.
