Denny Hamlin, Brad Keselowski

If you just got done driving 400 miles, the first thing you probably want to do is go to the bathroom. NASCAR drivers are no different.

So when Sunday’s Ambetter Health 400 ended in Atlanta, Brad Keselowski celebrated his second place finish by getting out of the car and heading straight for the porta potty. Keselowski was in such a hurry that he still had his helmet and HANS Device on. He also was in such a hurry that he made the fateful error of not locking the porta potty behind him. That’s where this gets awkward.

Sixth place finisher Denny Hamlin had similar thoughts and headed for the nearest porta potties. Seeing the other two porta potties locked, Hamlin opened the door of the one he thought was free. Instead, Hamlin got more than what he bargained for on the other side.

An awkward post-race moment between Denny Hamlin and Brad Keselowski

I know everyone is pointing out the obvious and wanting to tell Keselowski to lock the porta potty next time. My question is, what would’ve happened if Keselowski won?

Because of TV commitments, the winner has no spare moment right after the race to go to the restroom. They have the frontstretch interview, the victory lane interview, the trophy presentation, and taking pictures in victory lane with the crew. Maybe they’ll get a moment between victory lane and talking to the media, but that can take about 30-45 minutes after a race.

I guess that’s one good reason for Keselowski to lose the lead on the final lap to Joey Logano, though a win is probably worth peeing in your firesuit if it really came down to it. Billy Madison said it was cool.
