Famous social media comedian Druski recently went viral for a NASCAR-centric skit, and if you watched it in disbelief, you weren’t the only one. The video has become the most viral of Druski’s career, according to Awful Announcing, amassing over 274 million viewers across X, Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube.
“Some in the NASCAR industry wondered whether the skit was positive or negative for the sport because even though it went viral, Druski appeared to act in some scenes like the character he was playing was prejudiced.
“That comes despite how NASCAR has made efforts in recent years to try to change that stereotype and have a more welcoming environment for fans,” Adam Stern of Sports Business Journal wrote.
Fans reacted to the skit and its success on social media.
“Black face and insulting black stereotypes are now acceptable. Thank you, Druski,” one person wrote on Twitter.
“That’s racist,” someone else claimed.
It’ll be interesting to see if NASCAR moves to distance itself from the skit.
