Last Sunday, Joey Logano and William Byron became bitter enemies following a controversial finish in the Goodyear 400 at Darlington Raceway. It does not appear that cooler heads have prevailed.

Eventual winner Logano bumped Byron on the next-to-last lap and then overtook him to garner his first win of the season last Sunday. Byron hit the wall and eventually finished 13th. Afterward, he would tell a reporter, amongst other things, that Logano is “a moron.”

As the two prepared for this Sunday’s AdventHealth 400 in Kansas, Logano was asked about the comments and rivalry with Byron. He seemed to make it clear that he’s not going to back down either.

“Honestly, if he wants to keep going back and forth, I’ll keep swinging,” Logano added. “I don’t think that’s a good play for him in the long run. Like I said, I feel like we’re even. He was willing to take the lead that way. I was willing to take the lead back the same way.”

“He can keep going, but I can promise you I’ll keep going and I’ll go bigger every time.”

Big words from Logano. We’ll see how that translates to this weekend’s race getting underway at 3:30 p.m. E.T. Byron might be looking for a little revenge against “NASCAR’s unrepentant villain.”
