The No. 45 NASCAR team of 23XI Racing will face significant penalties after being found in violation following this weekend’s races at Darlington Raceway. Thus, it’s troubling news for driver Tyler Reddick, who is in the Top 10 of the Cup Series standings.

According to NASCAR.com, violations of the No. 45 team of 23XI Racing were found during the pre-qualifying inspection for the Cup Series event at Darlington. They were docked 10 points in the drivers and owners standings. Furthermore, two crew members received suspensions

“The no. 45 team was found in violation of Section 14.11.2.1.A of the NASCAR Rule Book, which states that, ‘Any and all ballast added to the vehicle must be secured inside a ballast container(s). … Additional ballast containers will not be permitted to be added to the chassis.’ As a result, competition officials docked the team 10 points in both the drivers and owners standings,” they wrote.

According to the release, the No. 45 team didn’t meet the requirements to race in two consecutive weeks. So it’s a brutal blow to the team and driver, Tyler Reddick. Reddick ranks 10th in the NASCAR Cup Series standings through 13 starts. He’s recorded six Top 10 finishes, four Top 5s, and won at Circuit of the Americas. But with those points docked now, it becomes a much steeper climb for Reddick as he tries to ascend up the rankings ladder.
