On Wednesday, Tom Brady announced that he would be involved with a Porsche Hypercar entry at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans endurance race.

In a video posted on Brady’s account, he joked about driving the car but wanted people to cut him some slack as it was his first day.

Brady didn’t do a great job elaborating on exactly what he was doing at Le Mans. People figured he wasn’t actually going to drive in the legendary race, but some thought he was becoming a sim racer and/or Twitch streamer, while others thought he was owning the team.

In actuality, Brady will be a sponsor of the Hertz Team Jota Porsche through his BRADY apparel company.

You never know what the future holds. Brady may become a sim racer and Twitch streamer. And there is a pro-am class so after a few years, maybe he can compete in the race. But as of right now, Brady is sponsoring the car.

The Hypercar class at this year’s centennial race will be incredibly competitive, especially for a non-factory team without financial backing from a car manufacturer. That being said, the Jota team was successful in the LMP2 class. They finished fifth overall and won the LMP2 class at last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, and won the LMP2 championship.

The news was a shock to just about everyone, and many chimed in on the news.
