Anton Tinnerholm

One unfortunate part of soccer is when a player falls and acts as if he’s been shot. Soccer players do it, mainly because it works a lot of the time. This attempt of winning a foul will rank as one of the worst attempts in recent memory.

Malmö FF right back Anton Tinnerholm was playing against fellow Swedish side Djurgårdens IF, and the former New York City FC player got hit by an opposing player after he passed the ball.

To be fair to Tinnerholm, he didn’t dive. Tinnerholm did get hit in the leg, and it was a good enough whack that it would be debatable if the ref would blow the whistle for a foul. What makes this awful was the horrible acting afterward.

Maybe Tinnerholm could’ve gotten away with it had he grabbed the correct leg. That was the biggest giveaway. The opposing player hits him on the left leg, and Tinnerholm grabs the right in “pain.” I can say I never embellished my injuries while I played soccer, but if I did, I would know well enough to grab the correct leg.

The cherry on top was a few seconds later when Tinnerholm got hit in the upper back with the ball and reacted by grabbing his head. That was maybe close enough to fool the ref, but it was still a bad move.

The Academy Awards was last night, but this attempt at acting was more appropriate for the Razzies than the Oscars.
