Dortmund players

Following this weekend’s matches, the Bundesliga will head into their winter break. And all things considered, it’s been a productive first half for Borussia Dortmond. Through 16 matches, Dortmund has gone 12-2-2 in the Bundesliga, amassing 38 points and sitting just five points behind Bayern Munich for the top spot in the league.

Dortmund has also advanced to the quarterfinals of the DFB-Pokal following a 2-0 win over Augsburg this week, and finished second in their Europa League group to advance into the round of 32, where Porto awaits them.

Dortmund released a Christmas video to commemorate called “Jingle Balls” featuring Pierre-Emrick Aubemeyang, Shinji Kagawa, and Marco Reus smashing soccer balls into bells to play “Jingle Bells”, and it’s fantastic.

Aubemeyang leads the Bundesliga with 18 goals this year, while Reus has added eight, good fifth in the league, tied with Hertha Berlin’s Salomon Kalou and Mainz’s Yuns Malli. Kagawa’s six Bundesliga assists are fourth in the league behind Raffael of Borusssia Monchengladbach (eight), Douglas Costa of Bayern Munich, and Dortmund teammate Henrikh Mkhitaryan (seven apiece).
