Cristiano Ronaldo, the Manchester United forward, and Tom Brady, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, are two of the biggest names in sports. The duo broke the internet back in March when Ronaldo asked Brady after a United victory over Tottenham Hotspur if Brady was done with football.
Brady announced his return to football the next day.
Many online conspiracy theories pointed to Ronaldo as the man who convinced Brady to return to the gridiron. Ronaldo addressed the conspiracy theory in a recent long-winding interview with renowned British broadcaster Piers Morgan.
“Psychology, see. I’m a good psychologist,” Ronaldo joked when Morgan broached the conversation during the interview. “I think he took the decision a few weeks before but it was good. … He’s a very, very smart guy, he knows a lot about fútbol. We had a nice conversation.”
It would appear that Ronaldo, for his part, does not think he was influential in Brady’s monumental decision.
Ronaldo is currently in Qatar with the Portugal men’s national soccer team. His side faces Ghana on Thursday.
Brady heads to Ohio this weekend as his Bucs face the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Like Ronaldo, he’s currently dealing with numerous off-the-field headlines as well.
