Emerson Hyndman, still only 20, has moved from Championship club Fulham to Premier League side AFC Bournemouth. Bournemouth, who were only promoted to the Premier League last season, signed the US international midfielder on a free transfer to a four year contract.

Bournemouth seems thrilled to bring Hyndman into the fold.

“We’ve moved swiftly in the window to secure Emerson’s signature and we are delighted to have finalized the deal to bring such a promising young talent to AFC Bournemouth,” chief executive Neill Blake said on the club’s official website.

“Emerson is a highly rated young player and already boasts international experience, so will be a welcome addition … We now look forward to seeing him in action at Vitality Stadium in of our second season in the top flight.”

Hyndman captained the United States’ U-20 World Cup side that made the quarterfinals last year and lost on penalties to Serbia, and also has two senior caps to his credit. His grandfather is Schellas Hyndman, former SMU and FC Dallas head coach.

He likely won’t start immediately, or much at all, in Premier League fixtures, but Eddie Howe is a manager that puts his faith in young players. Hyndman could end up seeing action as the season progresses while the Cherries look to avoid the dreaded second season syndrome in the Premier League.
