The United States Men’s National Team should be expecting to play a healthy England team after Gareth Southgate’s latest injury update.

The England coach said Thursday that captain and top striker Harry Kane is fully fit and ready to go for the Three Lions’ World Cup game against the USMNT on Friday.

Kane injured his ankle after a challenge in Monday’s 6-2 win over Iran and exited the game in the 75th minute for Callum Wilson. Kane underwent a scan on his right ankle in the days since the Iran game, but there was no damage that would prevent him from starting against the U.S. and continuing in the tournament.

Kane continued to play after the injury, which indicated to Southgate that it wasn’t too serious.

“He’s good, he’s worked a bit more individually but he’ll be back in with the team and good for the game,” Southgate said on British network ITV. He said the injury is more in Kane’s foot than his ankle.

Kane had two assists but honestly, England didn’t need much contribution from him to completely dismantle Iran in its opening game. The 2018 World Cup Golden Boot winner is just one of several attacking players the USMNT must limit in hopes of earning a result in its second game in Group B.
