Harry Redknapp is trying to rebuild Birmingham City in the Championship, and he’s doing it in the only way he knows how to rebuild any club: sign all of his old Tottenham boys. He’s been linked with signing Robbie Keane among other Spurs mainstays from 2010, and he apparently wants to bring in another one, fullback Benoit Assou-Ekotto.

However, Assou-Ekotto might be putting soccer aside for another dream of his: becoming a porn star.

The 33-year-old Cameroonian fullback has repeatedly said in interviews that soccer is not his passion and his career in the sport is “just a job.” On an episode of The Spurs Show Podcast episode released recently, Redknapp summed up the situation as only old ‘Arry could: “The only trouble is that he’s admitted he wants to be a pornstar.”

This is quite possibly the best sentence ever uttered by anyone, anywhere.

“Maybe I can get another year out of him before he decides to do that,” Redknapp said. “What a good player. He could well end up in the Birmingham colours next year, Benoit.”

Assou-Ekotto, who has been playing with French side Metz, is a bit of a character. On one hand, he’s been outspoken about social issues, particularly about the North London riots back in August of 2011 that postponed a Spurs game. But he’s also notable for putting, “LOL” at the end of many of his tweets for some inexplicable reason, or tweeting out random stuff such as this:

So will “Disco Benny” play for his old manager at Birmingham City next season, or will he take his disco haircut with him to porn? The answer to that question is pretty obvious:

LOL.
