Negotiations were completed Monday in the split between manager Laurent Blanc and soccer club Paris Saint-Germain. Assistant coach Jean-Louis Gasset and head fitness trainer Philippe Lambert will also leave the team, according to a statement by the club.

Blanc spent three years with the club and had signed a new two-year deal in February. He led Paris Saint-Germain to the Ligue 1 title in each of his three seasons at the helm, as well as two Coupe de France wins and three Coupe de la Ligue victories. Laurent’s departure comes after PSG disappointed in the Champions League, losing to Manchester City in the quarterfinal.

The statement read:

In a respectful atmosphere, negotiations were completed on 27 June. An agreement, by common accord, preserves the interests of both parties.

Assistant coach Jean-Louis Gasset and head fitness trainer Philippe Lambert, also leave the club as part of the agreement.

As the club decides to head in a new direction for the management of the first team, it wishes to thank Laurent Blanc and expresses its gratitude for the work accomplished over the last three years by Laurent and his staff.

During his three years at the club, Laurent Blanc won 11 trophies, including two national quadruples, and left a significant mark on the great history of Paris Saint-Germain.

ESPN FC reports that former Sevilla boss Unai Emery is a likely replacement at PSG.

Paris Saint-Germain Chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaïfi said in a statement:

“As we embark on a new chapter in the development of the club, I would like to thank Laurent Blanc for everything he has achieved over the last three years, both in terms of the playing style and results. I wish him the best for his future challenges.”

The change isn’t necessarily a surprise, after Nasser Al-Khelaïfi would not confirm in June that Blanc would retain his position as manager.
