Real Madrid is so good and deep that Gareth Bale didn’t even start today’s Champions League final. But when he did come on, he made a hell of an impact.

With the score tied 1-1, just moments after entering the contest, Bale found himself on the end of a cross and did the kind of thing that only world-class players can do:

Good god what a goal. That’s a hell of a goal if it’s a Tuesday night match between the Montreal Impact and D.C. United, much less in the second half of a close Champions League final. The replays, because they’re necessary:

What an absolute stunner of a goal for Bale. It’s not over yet, of course, but that is the sort of thing that can define the collective memory of the match going forward regardless of the eventual result.
