Over the past few years, Megan Rapinoe has become well-known for her willingness to use her platform to promote change and share her political and social views with the world. And even though she’s now heading into her last World Cup with the United States Women’s National Team, she’s doing it once again.

During a recent interview with TIME Magazine, Megan Rapinoe had some very candid thoughts on transgender women playing in women’s sports, revealing that she would welcome a transgender women playing for or against her soccer team.

Rapinoe made it clear that she sees transgender women the same way she does any other woman, so she doesn’t see it as taking anything away from women’s sports.

“Absolutely,” she says. “‘You’re taking a “real” woman’s place,’ that’s the part of the argument that’s still extremely transphobic. I see trans women as real women. What you’re saying automatically in the argument—you’re sort of telling on yourself already—is you don’t believe these people are women. Therefore, they’re taking the other spot. I don’t feel that way.”

It’s certainly a bold point of view, and it led to quite a few reactions on social media as a result.

Rapinoe has made her point very clear, and it’s safe to say she’s never going to be quiet about it.
