The legendary career of United States Women’s Soccer Team midfielder Megan Rapinoe came to a brutal end on Saturday.

Rapinoe came on late in a 0-0 game against Sweden and failed to make an impact during stoppage time. In the ensuing penalty kicks that decided the game, Rapinoe skied her only attempt over the crossbar. The miss turned the tide against America as Sweden went on to score its third-straight iconic win over the USWNT.

After sending her kick over the crossbar, Rapinoe was seen laughing in the field. She explained her behavior after the game.

“That’s like a sick, sick joke. I’ve never hit it over, when I miss they are saved. That’s why I had that smile on my face,” Rapinoe said, according to Fox Sports. “I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be [explitative] kidding me.’ I’m going to miss a penalty?’ Honestly, I can’t remember the last time I missed.”

Rapinoe went on to chalk up her miss to the breaks of the game.

“For me, personally, I’m just like this is dark comedy. I missed a penalty,” Rapinoe  said. “This is the balance to the beautiful side of the game. I think it can be cruel and just not our day.”
