The United States Women’s National Team has drawn quite a bit of criticism throughout their run in the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup with many criticizing the team culture, especially after much of the team has declined to sing the national anthem before it plays during games. And conservative media personality Megyn Kelly thinks one player is to blame: Megyn Rapinoe.
During her show SiriusXM radio show this week, Megyn Kelly had a pretty brutal message for Megan Rapinoe, claiming that Megan Rapinoe has “poisned the entire team against the country for which they play.”
“Megan Rapinoe, she’s the leader of all this… She’s not a starter. So that’s why she’s not on camera when they’re doing the national anthem, but she’s behind a lot of this,” Kelly said while hosting the Megyn Kelly Show, according to The Daily Mail.
“She’s poisoned the entire team against the country for which they play. I don’t know about you, but I’m not rooting for them. I’m not with them. I hope they lose…It’s shameful. These girls are shameful. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.”
The team advanced out of the group stage of the World Cup with a 0-0 draw against Portugal. They will now face Sweden in the Round of 16 in the knockout stages of the tournament.
