The United States Women’s National Team has drawn quite a lot of criticism throughout its run through the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup as several members of the team have chosen not to sing the national anthem during pre-match ceremonies. And that move seems to have very much upset conservative political commentator Megyn Kelly.
During her SiriusXM radio show this week, Megyn Kelly made it clear that she is not happy with the way the team has represented the United States at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, claiming “they look like they don’t even want to be there.”
“They won’t put their hands on their hearts,” Kelly said during her most recent radio show according to The Daily Mail. “They don’t feel prideful when they’re out there even though they’re representing the United States of America. Yes, we’ve got some flaws. Yes, there have been some warts, but we’re so much more good than we are bad.
“I mean, they look like they don’t even want to be there. It’s like some sort of inconvenience to be representing the USA.”
It’s worth noting that the players are well within their rights to remain silent during the national anthem. In fact, they’re even allowed to kneel down during the anthem if they choose.
