NYCFC is in Portland battling the Timbers for the MLS Cup title today, and it’s been a hell of a match.

But one of the more entertaining sights happened before the game even began, when a giant inflatable version of the Cup itself was wheeled onto the field.

The weather isn’t great in Portland today, windy and rainy, and it was poorly fated from the start. Although for a brief, shining moment, all was well:

That success was incredibly short-lived, though:

Yeah, that’s a disaster. It ended ignominiously:

Fortunately the match itself has been awesome, with Portland equalizing late in regulation (on a controversial goal) and extra time winding towards a shootout, as MLS Cup finals usually do.
