David Villa has scored plenty of crazy goals during his illustrious career, but he’s never scored a goal quite like the one he did tonight for NYCFC against the Philadelphia Union.
Words seriously don’t do it justice.
Want to watch that again? Of course you do! You should watch it hundreds of times because your brain might seriously not comprehend what it just saw.
50 yards out. FIFTY.
Just a ridiculous goal from @Guaje7Villa 🙊 https://t.co/YZY6UFo1Lv

And thanks to ESPN’s Paul Carr, we know that this goal, scored from precisely 53.5 yards out (just about at the halfway line), is the longest goal ever scored in MLS since records were taken like this in 2012. And it’s most certainly the longest goal in league history.

Unless Messi bamboozles Real Sociedad this weekend, this is more than likely the best goal you’re going to see during this weekend of soccer, and it’s almost assuredly MLS’ Goal of the Week and season.
Magnífico, el Guaje.
