France defeated Paraguay 2-1 in the round of 16 in the 2026 FIFA World Cup after a tightly contested affair that saw the Paraguayan’s use any tactics necessary to get under the skin of the French players, especially star forward Kylian Mbappé.

After the match, Paraguayan senator Celeste Amarilla had a scathing and profoundly racist message for Mbappé.

“This brute hasn’t even learned to write. Instead of breastmilk, he grew up sucking on coconuts, and the most educated creatures he ever heard were chimpanzees. You should’ve given him the middle finger, Orlando Gill,” Amarilla posted on X in a since-deleted post.

“A colonized Cameroonian, pretending to be French, resentful, newly rich, arrogant, and ugly. He was nervous and scared to death all game, like his whole team. They didn’t even manage to score a single goal, until they got lucky with a penalty. The only thing many of us blame the team for is not giving him a full-handed slap at the end of the game. I’m not even a football fan.”

“This is gender-based violence.”

Mbappé took the classy road in his response, but Amarilla is still demanding an apology.

“This is gender-based violence, plain and simple,” she said in a statement, via ESPN. “It is political violence against a woman who reached her position through the votes of her people.

“Retract your remarks, honour your French citizenship and apologise to me. Otherwise, I may begin legal proceedings on the grounds of gender-based violence.”

In a press conference, Amarilla even went as far as to say that she comes from a time when calling someone a “black piece of sh*t” was common.

Knowing the sortof character Mbappé is made of, he’ll likely take the high-road once again, but it’s terrible that a player who has done nothing but do things the right way on and off the pitch is having to deal with matter such as this.
