Samuel Eto’o has had a long and decorated playing career and after he retired in 2019, the Cameroonian legend became the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation.
Eto’o loves his native Cameroon as well as the continent of Africa, maybe to a fault. Because when asked who would win the 2022 FIFA World Cup, Eto’o went with the home nation choice.
In his first interview as FECAFOOT president, Eto’o revealed that he feels that all five African teams will advance out of the group stage, with Cameroon, Morocco, and Senegal top of their respective groups. And in the final, Eto’o has Cameroon vs. Morocco, with Cameroon winning the tournament. Eto’o even went into detail as to how the two countries get to the final. Morocco would beat Spain, Portugal, and France while Cameroon would beat Belgium and Senegal in the quarters and semis.
Entertaining Eto’o’s scenario for a second. Based on the information he provides, his prediction could theoretically come true. Cameroon would need to beat Ghana in the Round of 16 but if Belgium and Spain finish second in Groups F and E, and France and Portugal finish first in Groups D and H, it can happen.
Nevertheless, it’s a very unlikely scenario and people sure noticed.
I am a big fan of Samuel Eto'o but bruh this must be a prediction for the African Cup of Nations https://t.co/zKvMmY23I6
