The United States Men’s National Team was eliminated from the 2026 FIFA World Cup after losing to Belgium on Monday night, but it sounds like U.S. President Donald Trump still has someone to root for in the tournament.

Earlier this week, Trump revealed that he had played golf with England superstar Harry Kane, saying, “I like him a lot.” On Friday, Kane confirmed this golf outing as he had some flattering words for Trump.

Trump Praises Kane

During an interview last week, Trump praised England superstar striker Harry Kane as he revealed that he actually played golf with the star striker in the past.

“I think Kane is a great player,” Trump told the media during a press conference. “I played golf with him, and I like him a lot. He’s a good golfer, too. He’s really great.”

Trump’s praise came after Kane scored a goal on a penalty to help lift England over Mexico in their Round of 16 showdown.

Kane Confirms Golfing With Trump

On Friday, ahead of England’s match against Norway on Saturday afternoon, Kane spoke to the media, where he confirmed playing golf with Trump, calling it a “surreal experience.”

“We played about 18 months ago,” Kane said on Friday. “He invited me to play when I was down in Palm Beach. When the President invites you somewhere, you know, it was a pretty surreal experience just to meet him and play golf with him.”

Kane went on to praise Trump for his golfing ability, especially at his age.

“His golf is really good, to be honest with you,” Kane said. “I hope I can play golf as good as him when I’m his age, that’s for sure.”

Trump just celebrated his 80th birthday last month with a high-profile UFC event taking place on the White House lawn on the same date.

Kane called the golf outing with Trump a “unique experience” and said he was “grateful that he invited me down to play, for sure.”
