Losing stings. But, it’s a lot easier to deal with when your sibling is around to console you. Thankfully, for Mexico’s Monica Flores, her twin sister Sabrina, who happened to play on the USA team that defeated her squad, was there after the game.

The sisters might be twins, but the two represented different nations at the U-20 Women’s World Cup. Sabrina suited up for team USA, while Monica appeared for team Mexico. Unfortunately, Mexico was defeated in the quarterfinals 2-1 by USA. With Monica devastated by the ousting, her sister was there to console her.

It’s an incredible moment. Sabrina, despite winning the match, made sure to check if her sister was OK. Monica obviously was upset following the loss, but I’m sure having Sabrina there to help her through it calmed the frustrations. It’s touching.

Seeing sportsmanship among rival players, especially in a big soccer rivalry like USA vs. Mexico, is always welcome. Congratulations to the Flores sisters for getting so far in the tournament. Also, an extra shoutout for being there for your sibling. Well done to all.
