USMNT star Christian Pulisic went from an incredible highlight to a lowlight in the blink of an eye Tuesday.
Pulisic scored the only U.S. goal in their 1-0 victory over Iran on Tuesday. The goal and subsequent victory pushed the USMNT through to the 2022 FIFA World Cup knockout stage.
Pulisic’s terrific goal was almost immediately overshadowed. The star soccer player went down in a heap on the pitch after an apparent injury.
Many worried about his status for the match and for the Round of 16 match against the Netherlands. A major update was provided by the USMNT to Fox’s Jenny Taft later on Tuesday.
Taft tweeted, “I was told from USMNT that Christian Pulisic is at the hospital to get his abdominal injury further evaluated. He also FaceTimed the team in the locker room following the win.”

The hope for the U.S. is that the injury won’t keep Pulisic out of the lineup for Saturday’s match against the Netherlands. The team has gotten great play out of Tyler Adams and Timothy Weah. But Pulisic’s inclusion would surely help the team. Especially if he stepped up like he did Tuesday against Iran.
The layoff between matchups can only help and not hurt the situation. So, time will tell if another breakthrough update happens in the right direction for the US and Pulisic.
