15 players from the more than 250 who reported to NHL facilities for voluntary Phase 2 workouts have tested positive through the league's tests. 11 further players have tested positive in the past three weeks through other tests.
Silver told NBA players that there would be a minimum training camp length of three weeks. Additionally, if a player gets COVID-19 after the season resumes, the NBA would hope for daily testing and not stop the season.
"If we rush things, we possibly create a recipe for disaster, whether that is with coming back too soon and people getting coronavirus, or you rush back things to where guys aren’t ready to play and you have injuries that last into following seasons."
