There may come a point where humans won’t be working at amusement parks anymore. A Japanese theme park plans to make a sizable portion of their park staff robotic, ranging from cooking food and taking your trash after you are finished eating.

The Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki, Japan announced that more than 200 robots will be staffed in a “robot kingdom” portion of the park to do the kind of work humans would do in an amusement park. Robots will cook a variety of meals that can be done on command, a robot bartender who “can make ten different cocktails” and robots who will serve food, drinks and clean up a table after patrons leave.

The park has experimented in robotics in the service industry. Last year, the Henn Na Hotel opened within the grounds of Huis Ten Bosch has a robot only hotel staff that takes care of the front desk, send luggage to rooms and utilizes facial recognition software for someone to be able to get into their room.

Theme park president Hideo Sawada expanded upon the robot staffed hotel saying at the time, “In the future, we’d like to have more than 90 percent of hotel services operated by robots,” by taking the next step in utilizing similar robotic technology in the theme park. Sawada already has plans to expand this before the “robot kingdom” officially opens this July. Sawada said, “Robots will arrive in this kingdom one after another, and the time will come when these technologies will be in use worldwide.”

Sawada hopes that this will inspire companies to further robotic technology so that this becomes more of the norm. If you would like to go to Huis Ten Bosch, it’ll cost you around $58 and about $75 for the hotel but if you would like to experience something a bit different, this seems pretty cool. Just hope they don’t fall into an “Itchy and Scratchy Land” situation.
