India Willoughby made history after becoming the first transgender national newsreader in Great Britain and she has now been nominated for the 2023 Woman of the Year award by the U.K. organization Women of the Year, and tennis legend Martina Navratilova is quite clearly absolutely furious about the nomination.

Earlier this month, India Willoughby shared the news of her nomination on social media,

“Humbled and honoured to be nominated for Britain’s 2023 Woman of the Year Award,” Willoughby said in her post. “One of the proudest moments of my life.”

Willoughby seemed proud of the fact that her nomination would anger conservatives across the country and globe.

“I know my nomination will incense British media and Rishi Sunik. Which is fantastic,” she said. “Women come in many different flavors. Vanilla. Tutti Fruiti. Moustachio. I just happen to be one of them.”

This announcement seems to have enraged 18-time grand slam winner Martina Navratilova as she took to social media to blast Willoughby, calling her a “nasty piece of work” in a post on X.

“This nasty piece of work gets nominated for Adult Human Female of the year? Good to know…” Navratilova said in her post.

Navratilova called her out again in another post.

“Wow- quite the role model, this nasty India. Not anyone I would ever want to hang out with, to say the least,” she said.

Navratilova has never been shy about sharing her thoughts on this matter, and it’s safe to say we can expect her to continue commenting on stories like this.
