The Lindsborg Police Department in Kansas has opened an investigation after Kansas Wesleyan University filed an incident report following the posting of a photo that claimed someone associated with the Bethany College baseball team tried to poison their water cooler in order to purposefully make their team sick.

TMZ reported the incident after obtaining the report, which includes various offenses such as criminal threat, battery, knowing/recklessly causing bodily harm, and criminal damage to property.

The incident is alleged to have occurred on April 24 as KWU and Bethany played the final game in a three-game series. Kansas Wesleyan blew out their opponent 33-2 on the day. However, the Twitter account KWU Barstool then shared a photo of what is alleged to be paint thinner in Kansas Wesleyan’s water cooler.

“Putting PAINT THINNER in our water coolers to get our baseball players sick and still getting toasted by 31 runs is WILD. Stay classy! Glad all our players are okay #buckfethany,” read the tweet.

While the account appears to be associated with Barstool Sports, it is not, per TMZ.

“Kansas Wesleyan is aware of the primary tweet — made by an account not affiliated with the university — regarding this situation,” KWU said in a statement to TMZ. “We take this extremely seriously. Therefore, we immediately began a thorough, in-depth review, with the priority of putting the health and safety of our student-athletes first.
