With the Houston Astros sweeping the New York Yankees in the ALCS, Yankees star slugger Aaron Judge is now officially a free agent after a season where he blasted an American League record 62 home runs during the Major League Baseball regular season.
While Aaron Judge has not given any official indication about where he intends to sign before next season, he did offer some telling comments after the game that seems to indicate that he’s reflecting on his time with the Yankees as if he will not be returning to the team next season.
“Getting the chance to wear the pinstripes and play right field at Yankee Stadium, it’s an incredible honor that I definitely didn’t take for granted at any point,” Judge said according to ESPN. “I always checked myself pregame, when I’d say a little prayer, I’d kind of look around the stadium and kind of pinch myself that there’s very few individuals that get a chance to run out on that field and do that and play in front of the fans that support us throughout my whole six years here. It was a special time. I just kick myself for not bringing home that championship for them.”
These comments don’t necessarily mean that Judge will not be returning to the Yankees next season, but it sure does sound like he’s ready to move on if that’s what happens during the offseason.
While it’s unclear where exactly Judge will be playing baseball next year, one thing is clear: he’ll be making a lot more money.
