Patrick Peterson blasts Cardinals after revenge game

“I got fan mails from the owner, saying I can’t tackle. I’m old. I lost it. So, I wanted to go show them that.”

Star NFL cornerback Patrick Peterson spent the first 10 years of his career with the Arizona Cardinals where he was a three-time All-Pro and was named to the NFL’s Pro Bowl eight different times. But even though Peterson had plenty of success with the Cardinals, that doesn’t mean he looks back on that organization fondly.

Patrick Peterson is with the Minnesota Vikings now, signing with the team ahead of the 2021 season. On Sunday afternoon, he got the chance to face his old team and made the most out of it, finishing with four tackles and three pass deflections while not allowing a single catch in coverage.

While some players shy away from the “revenge game” narrative when facing their former team, Peterson embraced it. He wanted to show the Cardinals organization what he can still do.

“I’ve been told a lot of things about me from that organization,” Peterson said, according to the Washington Post. “I got fan mails from the owner, saying I can’t tackle. I’m old. I lost it. So, I wanted to go show them that.”

Peterson might be 32 years old, but he wants everyone to know that he still has plenty left in the tank – especially the Cardinals.

“I’ve still got it,” Peterson said. “All I heard the last two years was, ‘He’s washed up. He’s done.’ Yeah, I know we’ve still got a second half of the season going, but I’m just getting started.”

Peterson and the Vikings beat the Cardinals by a score of 34-26 on Sunday afternoon.
