Angel Reese trade leads to logistics issue for new team

The WNBA community was turned upside down when one of the league’s biggest names and most marketable stars, forward Angel Reese, was traded to the Atlanta Dream after only two seasons with the Chicago Sky.

“Breaking: Angel Reese is being traded to the Atlanta Dream. The Dream are trading a 2027 first-round pick and 2028 first-round pick to the Chicago Sky for the two-time All-Star and 2028 second-round swap rights, sources tell [Kendra Andrews],” ESPN posted on its official X account.

However, the trade is leading to some logistics issues for the Dream, although it’s worth noting that the superstar’s presence is leading to some good problems to have. Teams are constantly having to move into bigger arenas when the Indiana Fever come to town to accommodate the extra fanfare surrounding Fever point guard Caitlin Clark.

The Dream is now looking at a scenario where they may need to move into a bigger arena full-time to meet all of the demand surrounding Reese, as Gateway City Arena, Atlanta’s home court, currently only fits about 5,000 people, which helped contribute to Atlanta’s league-low attendance last season.

Ticket prices are already surging in Atlanta since news of the trade broke.

If Atlanta wants to fully maximize Reese’s stardom, both on and off the court, it’ll have to sort through some logistical issues to make sure as many fans as possible are able to see her to continue to grow the game.
