Seattle Storm forward Breanna Stewart has been one of the best WNBA players in the league since she was drafted with the first pick in the WNBA Draft in 2016.
She has now announced that she will be releasing her new signature shoe with Puma in hopes to change the culture of the women’s basketball shoe game for the future.
Breanna Stewart hopes to change sneaker culture with the launch of the Stewie 1, the first signature shoe from a WNBA player in a decade.
“Women in the sneaker industry deserve a lot more than they’ve gotten in the past."

“I didn’t have any female-led shoes,” said Stewart when asked about the new shoe announcement. “I feel bad saying that, but it was the way the market was and what we saw. Hopefully, now I can be a part in the change.”
Stewart recently signed an extension with the Storm earlier this month for one season on a supermax deal.
In her five-year career with the Storm, Stewart has an extremely long list of accomplishments, including a WNBA MVP, two WNBA championships, two WNBA Finals MVPs, and being named to the WNBA First Team twice.
Stewart signed an endorsement deal with Puma last May, and now they will be releasing the “Stewie 1s” this summer.
Women’s basketball has certainly not gotten the representation that it deserves in the shoe industry, with WNBA star Candace Parker being the last WNBA player to receive a signature shoe back in 2010.
Now Stewart will look to change the way that basketball fans see shoe culture going forward, which is simply a microcosm of how the world sees the WNBA compared to the NBA, which is another issue in its own right.
