Thursday night was supposed to be a special one for Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark and the Indiana Fever. Not only were the Fever coming into the evening’s matchup with the Atlanta Dream on a three-game win streak, but Clark debuted her signature sneaker with Nike, the Caitlin 1.
Unfortunately, things did not go according to plan for Clark and company. The Fever lost the game 108-101, and although Clark finished the game with 26 points and seven assists, it wasn’t her best game.
The Fever struggled when Clark was on the floor, fought back in the game when foul trouble forced her to the bench, and struggled again after she returned late in the contest. Clark’s signature sneaker debut was marred by a game-worst -13 +/-, and cameras caught her frustration boiling over in an unseemly way mid-game.
The former Rookie of the Year completely lost her cool and got in a referees face.

Fans on social media were incensed by Clark’s behavior, and many felt that other players in the league would never be given as much slack.
“Any other player this would’ve been a tech. Sick of this bullshit,” one fan posted on X.
“If this was any other playet they would’ve gotten a Tech. How is this allowed. Put a stop to the flopping and bias officiating to make the game more enjoyable,” one fan added.
“Always throwing temper tantrums like the brat she is,” one person wrote.
“You would think she and (the WNBA) would have some awareness after that article about her flopping/tantrums came out,” someone else posted. “This is your role model garnering the most national tv coverage? Bigger and better stars w/ more motion are already here & more coming.”
While it’s true that winning cures all, Clark may want to improve her on-court demeanor and attitude if she wants to avoid alienating a large portion of her fan base.
