Donald Trump Syndication: Palm Beach Post

Former WNBA champion Natasha Cloud has always used her platform as a way to spread political activism when it comes to equality in the United States. And on Thursday, Cloud wasn’t afraid to voice her opinions on the second presidential term of Donald Trump to this point.

One of the many things that President Trump has focused on early on in his second term is the removal of several DEI programs, which of course promote inclusion in the workplace for minority candidates. Notably, Trump ordered the elimination of several government DEI programs earlier this month.

In a conversation with The Associated Press on Thursday, Cloud sounded off about this topic, outlining how the “systems of power” have put “profit and money” over people.

“The systems of power are working as they always were intended to work,” Cloud told The Associated Press, transcribed by Fox News. “And it’s time to break down a system that has only been about White men. I understand the business aspect and I understand the human aspect.  Too often this country has put the human aspect aside, and put profit and money over people.”

Cloud, who is perhaps best remembered for sitting out 2020 WNBA season to focus on community reform efforts and join the George Floyd protests, has always been vocal about whoever is in power.

She has equally been vocal about Joe Biden’s tenure as president in the past, calling him out for the rise of inflation and the national minimum wage on social media.

Interestingly, Cloud, who plays for the Connecticut Sun, is not the only Sun player to openly share their negative opinions of Trump as of late. DiJonai Carrington, Cloud’s teammate, notably wore an anti-Trump shirt back in January, later calling for fellow WNBA players to similarly share their voices against the sitting president.

Clearly, Cloud followed in her footsteps. So it will sure be interesting to see if even more WNBA players share their thoughts on Trump and his policies in the future.
