The Indiana Fever saw its five-game winning streak come to an end in Minnesota on Sunday with a tightly contested loss to the Lynx. Indiana had multiple opportunities to get the game within one point late, with each member of its big three of Aaliyah Boston, Kelsey Mitchell, and Caitlin Clark getting the ball on the perimeter with a chance to hit a three-point shot, which each has excelled at this season.
Unfortunately for the Fever, it wasn’t meant to be, and they fell 108-100. A big part of Indiana’s struggles came from the failure to contain perennial MVP candidate Napheesa Collier, who finished the game with an efficient 13 points on 6-for-9 shooting from the field.
The Fever were hopeful to get a major piece of the puzzle back from injury that could provide much-needed assistance in the post for Collier-level threats, but on Tuesday, the team announced that she was out for the season.

Fans reacted to the news on social media.
“Unbelievable gaslighting from the front office. Dantas has been not with the team for weeks, so this surgery probably happened weeks ago. They waited to announce until after the trade deadline so fans couldn’t get mad at them for not trading for a backup big,” one fan posted on X.
“Hoping a speedy recover for Dantas. On another note, she had surgery on Monday. Trade deadline was Monday and we didn’t get a reliable back up big to help Boston?? This FO is unserious,” someone else added.
“I wish the front office was honest about what was going on with her sooner. It would be nice if we still had Justine Pissott as well,” another fan added.
It’ll be interesting to see how Indiana adjusts following such a massive loss.
