The Indiana Fever are in the middle of an extremely improbable playoff run. Despite losing Caitlin Clark and four other key players to season-ending injuries, the Fever have qualified for the playoffs and pulled off an upset of the Atlanta Dream in the first round.
However, Clark is revealing that she has been punished by the WNBA for something that occurred after Game 2 of Indiana’s first-round series against the Dream. clarkd posted ‘Refs couldn’t stop us’ on Instagram, and the WNBA was not thrilled about it.
Front Office Sports reported that Clark was fined $200 for the message, which fans on social media found objectionable.
“Craziest part Caitlin was referring to the bench and their reactions (meaning the jumping up and down and sometimes on the court) and not even the refs actions in the game smh,” one fan wrote on Twitter.
“$200? Wow, im sure she learned her lesson after that hefty fine,” another fan added sarcastically.
Clark and the Fever have almost certainly shifted their focus to the Fever’s semifinals series agaisnst the Las Vegas Aces. The series is tied 1-1 heading into Friday’s Game 3, which means Indiana can clinch its ticket to the WNBA Finals on its home court.
It would mark one of the most unlikely Finals appearances in WNBA history. We’ll see how much Clark is able to get involved from her spot on the bench.
