After the conversation between Stephen A. Smith, Shannon Sharpe, and Monica McNutt on Monday’s First Take about Caitlin Clark, everyone in the sports world had an opinion.

The conversation got heated between Smith and McNutt because SAS thinks the ladies of the WNBA are just jealous of Caitlin Clark and that’s why she continues to take a beating on the court.

McNutt and First Take host Molly Qerim disagreed with Smith’s take and called him out on it, which he didn’t take too kindly.

ESPN NBA analyst Kendrick Perkins, who also appears on the show frequently, offered his two cents and sided with the ladies. Perk thinks all the men speaking up on this situation should probably keep their mouths closed and stay out of it.

“I’m looking at guys like Charles Barkley, LeBron James, Stephen A., Shannon Sharpe. Why do I point out those four guys? You have to be careful about the words you put out there….I think Pat McAfee owes everyone an apology, especially Caitlin Clark,” he said.

McAfee used a slur against Clark to make a point but later apologized for it on social media.

What frustrated McNutt and some of the other female sports commentators is that Smith and these other men assume that the players of the league are jealous of Caitlin Clark. In truth, they are frustrated at the coverage she is getting compared to the rest of the league.
