Sophie Cunningham found herself at the center of some speculation over the past several weeks when her podcast suddenly stopped publishing new episodes after her co-host publicly shared a conflicting view on trans athletes. Now, Cunningham has addressed that situation while calling out the “fraud” media who reported on it.
During a recent appearance on The Colin Cowherd Podcast, Cunningham and Cowherd explained why Cunningham’s podcast went on hiatus as the Indiana Fever star had some strong words for the media.
Cunningham’s Podcast Went Silent
Cunningham launched her Show Me Something podcast back in July of 2025, giving her a space to share her candid thoughts on the WNBA and the Indiana Fever, especially as the team and the league exploded in popularity thanks in large part to Caitlin Clark.
The podcast regularly published new episodes throughout the WNBA season. However, it went suspiciously silent after her co-host, West Wilson, posted a TikTok video that directly contradicted Cunningham’s stance on transgender athletes.
Wilson, a reality star who grew up with Cunningham in Missouri, argued that transgender women’s participation in women’s sports is “a borderline nonexistent issue” that right-wing commentators amplify.
“Okay, transgender athletes in American sports is such a borderline nonexistent issue that right-wingers have convinced a massive portion of people in our country that it, that these people are like a threat to sports in America when mathematically that’s not the case at all,” Wilson said in the video.
“And by continuing to platform this, [freaking] politicians, athletes, journalists, news outlets, you’re only isolating transgender people even more by making them seem like this giant group of people is a threat to society, a threat to sports, when that’s just not proportionately the truth in any capacity.”
The two did not publish another podcast together after Wilson’s comments, sparking speculation that the apparent disagreement could have been the reason behind the hiatus. Cunningham, however, now claims that is not the case.
‘These news outlets are just fake’
This week, Cunningham announced a new podcast called No Hesitation, with her shooting coach Drew Hanlin as her new co-host. During Cunningham’s appearance on The Colin Cowherd Podcast, both Cowherd and Cunningham laughed at the idea that the previous podcast ended due to any controversy.
“What Sophie was doing was rebuilding her podcast,” Cowherd said.
Cowherd then asked Cunningham for her reaction to the speculation that her previous podcast ended as a result of the apparent disagreement between her and Wilson. Cunningham responded by offering a rather scathing criticism of the media.
“It’s just dumb. It’s just dumb,” Cunningham said. “Before you have this platform and before you’re in the spotlight, I might have believed some of those stories or got caught up in some of the gossip. But now that I’m on this side of it, I’m like, all these news outlets are just fake. They’re all fraud. Nothing is real.”
Cunningham said that she started the new podcast because she wanted a WNBA podcast that strictly talked about basketball. However, she does seemingly understand why people might have thought the two had some sort of disagreement from the outside looking in.
“I loved West. I think we had a really great time together. I know he’s off doing great things too,” Cunningham said. “But he was going through some stuff, then I was going through some stuff. Everything was very main media for both of us for a little bit. So I think a lot of people thought that we were going at it. We really weren’t. We were just rebranding. He was going to do his own thing.”
“When I first saw it, I was like ‘this is so goofy,'” Cunningham said of the speculation.
Cunningham said that she and Wilson have even laughed at the speculation together.
“It was fun. I still love West to death, and I had a great time with him,” Cunningham said.
