Over the past several years, the WNBA has faced issues with spectators throwing green dildos on the court in an apparent attempt to make a mockery of women’s sports. That practice calmed down a bit, until the past several days. Now, one WNBA star is speaking out.
In a press conference this week, Chicago Sky guard Natasha Cloud unloaded on the “fans” who have been doing this, calling it pointing out that the culprits have overwhelmingly been straight men, as she called it “the gayest thing you can do.”
Green Dildos on the Court
Back in 2025, green dildos were regularly thrown on the court of WNBA games as “fans” in the stands wanted to draw viral attention and presumably mock female athletes.
While that hadn’t happened throughout this season, the trend returned this week. During Thursday night’s game between the Los Angeles Sparks and Atlanta Dream, a fan threw a green dildo on the court during a free throw attempt.
Unfortunately, it happened again on Friday as three were thrown onto the court during the Chicago Sky’s matchup with the Golden State Valkyries.
Cloud Speaks Out
After the game, which the Sky won by a score of 73-70, Cloud unloaded on the dildo throwers, calling the action “the gayest thing you can do” as a man.
“Y’all lame as [expletive], sorry mom,” Cloud said via Awful Announcing. “In most of these occasions, it’s men. I want you to know that is the gayest thing that you can do, is to go to a store, a sex shop, buy a dildo, come to a women’s game, to throw the dildo on the court. That is the gayest [expletive] that I’ve ever heard. I’m a firm believer in anyone that has so much problem with a certain marginalized group, just come out and say that you’re a part of our marginalized group, because that hate is unwarranted. It’s not factual.”
“And it says more about the internal struggles of that individual than it ever will say about the collective group. The men that are throwing it, it also shows that you are weak, like extremely weak. And it says a lot about how you feel about women. You don’t care about the disruption of the game, you all lame as [expletive], you all gay to us. We see it. Keep throwing them if you just want to keep telling us you’re gay.”
Naturally, Cloud’s comments generated faux outrage after she invoked homophobic language, ignoring the fact that she herself identifies as LGBTQ and she was using it to point out the hypocrisy. But it’s clear that she is not a fan of the action.
