Linda McMahon WWE

If you thought 2016 couldn’t get any more surreal, you would be completely wrong.

President-elect Donald Trump has named Linda McMahon, the co-founder and former CEO of WWE, as the head of the Small Business Association. The former CEO of the wrestling conglomerate had been circled for plenty of other positions before this but many believed it to be a smokescreen. McMahon unsuccessfully ran for a Senate seat back in 2010 in her home state of Connecticut.

The SBA, which has at least one office in every U.S. state, provides support to small businesses such as extending loans and making sure they get a percentage of federal contracts.

Trump’s announcement, a copy of which was seen by Reuters, said McMahon would be a key player in his effort to generate stronger job growth and roll back federal regulations. He said she had helped the WWE grow from a 13-person operation to a publicly traded global enterprise with more than 800 employees worldwide. Donald Trump is a WWE Hall of Fame member.

“Linda has a tremendous background and is widely recognized as one of the country’s top female executives advising businesses around the globe,” Trump said in the announcement.

While the idea of a McMahon is a silly idea to many, it is important to remember that she did help grow and build a billion dollar company. The storylines to come from this will not only be good for the media but for WWE as well. Can you even imagine?

If this means more WWE personalities in politics, this may finally end the gridlock in congress – one chokehold at a time.
